Meet the Face Behind the Brand
Jocelyn • Founder
Passionate about animals, nature, and conservation, Jocelyn is the driving force behind Knowledge in Nature. She is dedicated to protecting both the biodiversity industry and the wildlife she cares so deeply for.
Her mission is built on promoting ethical practices, responsible ownership, education, and fostering a deeper, more sustainable appreciation for the natural world.
"Every species plays a role in our ecosystems, and every effort to protect nature makes a difference."
We didn't start Knowledge in Nature to push paperwork.
We started it because navigating the system shouldn't be this difficult.
Biodiversity permitting and regulatory compliance in South Africa can be complex, inconsistent and frequently disconnected from the practical realities on the ground. For many individuals and businesses, it is frustrating to navigate — whether you are working with wildlife, managing breeding stock, building a commercial facility or trying to do things the right way.
We've seen firsthand how unclear processes, shifting provincial interpretations and bureaucratic barriers can hold people back or push them into unintentional non-compliance. Knowledge in Nature was created to turn complex environmental legislation into clear, workable pathways.

⚖️ Our Perspective
We believe compliance should support conservation — not complicate it.
That means:
- Clear, practical guidance instead of bureaucratic confusion
- Permitting systems that align with real-world animal husbandry and science
- Processes that work for both regulatory authorities and ethical operators
🤝 What Sets Us Apart
We operate at the intersection of:
- Scientific understanding of species and ecosystems
- Statutory legislation across national and provincial frameworks
- Real-world practical application on the ground
Working alongside scientists, industry professionals and clients across South Africa, we focus on making biodiversity compliance understandable, workable and future-focused.
🌱 Why It Matters to Us
This isn't just about permits.
It's about:
- Protecting biodiversity responsibly
- Supporting ethical trade and responsible ownership
- Building administrative systems that people can actually follow
Because when compliance works properly, conservation works better.
👉 Moving Forward
We're here to simplify the complex, challenge what isn't working and help shape a regulatory system that benefits people, ethical businesses and the natural environment.
